David Bowie Passes away at 69; so does actor Alan Rickman

When David Bowie performed at the Boston Music Hall October 1, 1972 this writer was 18 years of age. After the show Bowie was in his limo and waved to me. It was the first connection with David. Four years later on or about March 21, 1976 I met Iggy Pop in the elevator of the Springfield Marriott; Iggy introduced me to David. I thanked Bowie for the great music and he was quite a gentleman. They invited me to have drinks at the table along with the two young ladies I was with.

New Year's Eve we lost Natalie Cole
R&B singer Natalie Cole, whose hits included “This Will Be” and “Unforgettable,” a virtual duet that she sang with her late father Nat “King” Cole, has died. The Associated Press reported she died Thursday night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

2004 Liner Notes to Hip0 Select "SUNNY" album from Bobby Hebb

11 years ago I wrote the liner notes to the Hip-0 Select version of Bobby Hebb's Sunny, the first U.S.A. CD release of the disc, remastered by Gavin Lurssen and Heather Whitten. There was a Japanese version that didn't have as pure a sound quality.

Bernard Purdie Re-records SUNNY 47 years after the Bobby Hebb Demo Tape was made - Chihiro Yamanaka 2015 rendition

Chihiro Yamanaka, the renowned pianist, tracks "Sunny," the twelfth selection on her new CD, Reminisce.

This is an historical achievement as the rich and wonderful version has Bernard Purdie, the man who played the drums on the 1965 demo version with bassist Ben Tucker and singer/guitarist/composer Robert "Bobby" Hebb. 47 years later, Pretty Purdie records this spectacular Bobby Hebb song again.
